All young Black girls should be able to look in the mirror and see their potential. Yet the beauty and brilliance that radiates through their reflection go unseen by some of their beautiful eyes. Centuries of hatred, abuse, and disposal have left many of us blinded to our worth, but we will remain resilient. As we get older, we start to realize that our shortcomings are a byproduct of the history that has designated a seat for us at the bottom of the pillar. However, at every base, there is a foundation, and the one that we are all standing on today was built by our ancestors. 

 

We come from an excellence that is greater than anything we can ever know, and so we should strive to challenge ourselves to channel their strength. The stories of their tribulations should be our motivation to continue to break down the barriers that stand in our way.

 

Our freedom is the product of their efforts, and so we should borrow from the greatest strategy of their pursuit, and implement it into our own plan of action. And that is to work together as a united front that uplifts each other and inspires one another to reach our greatest potential because when one of us wins, we all win. For this reason, the establishment of a true sisterhood would be many dreams come true!
